Not every business is ready to outsource its public relations.

For some, spearheading elements of public relations in-house makes a lot of sense.  Perhaps the company employs a seasoned marketing professional who has experience pulling together components of a PR plan. In the short term, he or she can do just enough to get by.  Or the company is going through a transitional period and is without leadership and direction. Maybe PR isn’t a high priority due to budget constraints.

If you’re reading this blog post and your company isn’t described above, is your business ready to hire a PR agency?

PR agencies are invaluable partners.  However, a good PR professional is only as good as the story she can tell.  Here’s what I mean.  If your company:

    • Can clearly define short-term and long-term objectives.
    • Has something relevant to offer its audience.
    • Is willing to be authentic and accountable for all messages. (in other words, always tell the truth!)

You’re ready to start identifying potential PR partners!

Quick Tip:  If you’re ready to outsource your messaging and communications – it’s important to feel confident that the person representing your brand can give it the personality it deserves.  Chemistry and open dialogue is key to a successful relationship.

Best of luck in searching for the right PR match.
